If 6 was 9 you will mind

Back in the 1960s legendary guitarist and  musician Jimi Hendrix had a song called "If 6 was 9"
The lyrics included

If the sun refuse to shine,
I don't mind, I don't mind,
If the mountains fell in the sea,
let it be, it ain't me.
Alright, 'cos I got my own world to look through,
And I ain't gonna copy you.
Now if 6 turned out to be 9,
I don't mind, I don't mind,

Hendrix had some strong Christian roots from his childhood Gospel upbringing and some of his lyrics had Biblical imagery. He was spiritually aware of the importance of Jesus Christ in world Spiritual History. Of course he was also steeped in the whole 1960s psychedelic revolution and New Age theology. In fact along with the Beatles, Dylan and others he was recognized as one of the iconic ambassadors of this era.

The Bible speaks of people in the last days of earths history "Calling light darkness and darkness light" and "good will be called evil and evil good" (see scripture)

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  Isaiah 5:20

I also remember being in a library and reading a report that a friend of 60s Harvard professor and psychedelic guru Timothy Leary heard Leary crying out to God  and praying " But God I thought I was right, I thought I was right "( Leary was raised a Catholic and asked to attend mass and receive communion not long before his passing)

The often powerful and alluring spiritual experiences that many had when using psychedelic drugs were often very profound and often undermined any Christian worldview and foundational theology many had. Many embraced Eastern religious mysticism as a result of these experiences.

Hendrix had some experiences with Christ in his time of searching cosmology and mysticism. In fact the original title of Purple Haze included "Jesus saves". Of course the record company would not allow that title and demanded a change to title and lyrics.
It seems that Hendrix was trying to make some big changes to his life just prior to his death. He was sick of the wild man of drug binges and parties image he had. He wanted to be a serious and sober musician who could speak truth and love to the world. Only God knows the hearts of all men and our prayer is that Jimi made peace with God before his death.

The reality though is that for many  6 did turn out to 9 and what looked right initially turned out be a deceptive counterfeit path that led to a slippery slope into the nether realms.

There is a way that seems right to a man and appears straight before him, but at the end of it is the way of death. Proverbs 16:25

There is only one sure way to find the reality of Life and Eternity
Jesus said
“I am the [only] Way [to God] and the [real] Truth and the [real] Life; no one comes to the Father but through Me"  John 14:6 AMP
